The Canadian Militia received the MK. I Long Lee Enfield rifle in 1896. They used this rifle in the Boer War 1899 to 1902. They used the MK.III & MK.III. in WWI as well as the No.4 Lee Enfield in WWII, the Korean War and into the late 1950s in general is due.

    SN M37059 is a BSA Shirley 1944 dated 303 No. 4T Sniper rifle. This rifle remains in 'out of the war reserves' excellent plus to near new condition with all matching serial numbers, and M47 C markings . This rifle was never set up for its' scope . The wood shows all of it's original factory finish. The butt grip shows no evidence of scope number. The bore rates as new. The bolt shows a 0 head and very little indication of issue or usage. All wood markings are clear and crisp with no wear markings. This rifle came to us together with a 1945 dated No 32 MKIII scope SN 28405. The optics are bright and crystal clear. The scope was built by A. Kershaw and Son. The mounting bracket show No. X 31677. The scope remains in excellent plus condition and comes with its' original matching MK 2 canvas case, serial numbered to the scope, The case remains in excellent condition. Despite not having a matching scope this Sniper is an exceptional example of a late WW2 No 4 T rifle. A piece for the Sniper or Lee Enfield Collector.

The crux of the No. 4 Lee-Enfield story is it was Great Britain's supremely practical evolution of the most promising of the world's first-generation, small-bore, smokeless powder, bolt-action repeating-rifles (their own Lee-Metford) and the best battle rifle of World War I, the Short Magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE) No. During World War II, the British standardized their sniper equipment as the Lee-Enfield Number 4 Mark I (T). There were three main batches of conversions. RSAF ENFIELD CONVERSIONS 1941 – 1942 – The first batch of conversions. Most of these were 1931 and 1933 dated No. I rifles made at Enfield. The MK I has the sliding eye shade and in this model both front and rear shades have been reproduced right down to the brownish color. The drum mechanisms, just like the original, incorporate click device for positive adjustment, each click represents two minutes of angle or 2 inches at 100 yards and the lateral deflection is up to 16 minutes left and right. On the range drum, each click represents 50 yards and this is graduated to 1,000 yards.

Optics are crisp clear and the complete set comes with the sheet steel telescope case, adjusting tool, scope mount and leather scope lens covers.

We will include the 2 bases, screws, taps and drill bits in order for you to complete the job of installing this FABULOUS reproduction on your favorite SMLE.' Note: These scopes can be installed on a standard No 4 Lee Enfield rifle to create a No 4 MKI T sniper rifle.
